The heat pipe absorbs heat from the external heat source, the working fluid in the wick of the evaporation section evaporates, the vapor pressure in the local space increases, and a pressure difference is formed at both ends of the pipe. Under the action of the pressure difference, the vapor is driven to the condensation section, and its heat is transferred to the heated body through the surface of the heat pipe. After the working fluid in the heat pipe condenses, it returns to the evaporation section to form a closed cycle, including three processes: the evaporated working medium is exothermically condensed in the condensation section; the condensed working medium is returned to the evaporation section for re-evaporation.

Because the thermal circulation of the heat pipe is realized in a closed tube, for the external environment, the heat pipe absorbs heat from the high heat source and releases heat in the low temperature section. The heat pipe is only a tool for heat transmission, the working medium side is the carrier of heat transmission, and the driving force for the circulation of the working medium is the temperature difference between the two ends of the pipe.
② Characteristics of heat pipe waste heat boiler
The heat pipe has a large thermal conductivity, and it has the characteristic of transferring a large heat flow under a small temperature difference. We use heat pipe waste heat boiler in low temperature power generation system to do the heat recovery device of low temperature waste heat power generation. Heat pipe heat exchangers and other types of heat exchangers were compared and evaluated by Hughes Aircraft Company of the United States (see the attached table for the results). As can be seen from the table, only the comprehensive index of the plate-fin heat exchanger is relatively close to the heat pipe heat exchanger (the number in brackets in the table indicates the quality factor, the best is 5, and the worst is 0.
The pressure of the fluid passing through the plate-fin heat exchanger is 1-2 times higher than that of the heat pipe heat exchanger. Obviously, if it is used as a waste heat recovery device, it will greatly increase the power consumption of the fan.
